C5: SPA VILNIUS https://europeanspas.eu/eia-projects/c5-spa-vilnius/ Fri, 13 Sep 2024 12:40:59 +0000 https://europeanspas.eu/?post_type=eia-projects&p=5177 SPA VILNIUS Anykščiai, located in the beautiful Anykščiai Forest, offers a new and unique forest program “Forest Therapy” designed for those who seek a deeper connection with nature and their inner harmony. This program combines traditional Lithuanian nature rituals with modern wellness practices. By incorporating the globally popular forest therapy, the “Lithuanian Forest” bath ritual, the pleasures of a hot tub surrounded by the forest, and the signature classical massage with eucalyptus oil, specially adapted for this program, we aim not only to relax the body but also to restore the connection with nature, which is an essential component of our health.

1. Originality

The forest program is more than just SPA procedures – it is a journey into the inner self, opening a deep connection with Lithuanian nature. The forests of Anykščiai, with their ancient trees, quiet trails, and fresh air, provide a special background that draws every visitor into a world of peace and harmony. We invite our guests to experience this unique journey that will not only rejuvenate your body but also leave an indelible mark on your soul. It is an experience that only a Lithuanian forest can provide.

Uniqueness and Originality
SPA VILNIUS Anykščiai is one of the first SPA centers in Lithuania to create a program that emphasizes the benefits provided by the forest. Although there are individual forest therapies or bathing sessions available in Lithuania, the SPA VILNIUS masters and therapists have created a comprehensive program that includes therapy, massage, and bath to achieve a full balance of body and emotions through forest experiences. The uniqueness and originality of the forest program stem from the deep integration of Lithuanian nature and culture into every procedure, aiming to create not only physical but also spiritual renewal.

Signature and Local Elements
The program is based on the uniqueness of the Lithuanian forest, which has long been considered a healing source. The forests of Anykščiai, with their deep historical and cultural roots, offer visitors the opportunity to feel the true healing potential of the forest. Such a natural environment provides not only physical relaxation but also spiritual unity with nature. Elements of the program, such as forest therapy and an outdoor hot tub, are inseparable from nature. Active breathing in the forest air, cooling the body with spring water, or meditating among century-old trees create a unique experience that sets this program apart from other SPA offerings. This allows guests to experience not just traditional SPA, but also a deep spiritual connection with nature.

Effect on the Person
Each element of the program is adapted to the individual needs of the guest, taking into account their physical and emotional condition. For example, a massage with eucalyptus oil can be tailored to specific body areas according to the guest’s preferences, while during forest therapy, the therapist can help find a personal connection with nature based on the guest’s inner needs.

Purpose of the Program
The purpose of this program is to provide clients with a unique wellness experience, combining the powers and traditions of Lithuanian nature with modern wellness practices. The program seeks to restore a deep connection with nature, help restore inner harmony, and balance the body and mind using only natural resources and masterful procedures. It emphasizes sustainability, eco-friendliness, and care for the environment, inviting clients not only to relax but also to consciously contribute to the preservation of nature. This program is a holistic journey into the embrace of nature, where everyone can find peace and rejuvenation.

2. Impact and benefits

Burnout symptoms are an increasingly common problem in Lithuania, as in many other countries. According to the Lithuanian Department of Statistics and other studies, approximately 20–30% of employees in Lithuania report burnout symptoms, such as chronic fatigue, reduced work capacity, emotional exhaustion, and alienation at work. The “Forest Therapy” program is designed to be a way not only to treat but also to prevent burnout, giving people the opportunity to restore both physical and emotional health by recovering in the embrace of nature.
By integrating Lithuanian nature and culture into the SPA program, SPA VILNIUS can strengthen its brand uniqueness and distinctiveness both in Lithuania and internationally. The program’s emphasis on naturalness, eco-friendliness, and authenticity can help position SPA VILNIUS as an innovative and tradition-respecting SPA center. The program can contribute to promoting the wellness movement, encouraging clients to take care of not only their bodies but also their emotional and spiritual health. This holistic concept of health care can help SPA VILNIUS become a wellness leader in the region, offering clients not only relaxation but also deep healing.
The Forest Program can attract a new segment of clients, especially those who value natural, eco-friendly, and cultural experiences. This could be both local and international clients seeking an authentic experience that combines nature therapy and local traditions. This would provide an opportunity to expand SPA VILNIUS’ client base. It could also attract more tourists who are looking not only for relaxation but also for memorable experiences. The Forest Program could be marketed as a unique experiential tourism product, allowing tourists to get a closer look at Lithuanian culture, nature, and traditions. This could be especially attractive to foreigners seeking an authentic Lithuanian experience.
All of this would help SPA VILNIUS not only increase its market competitiveness but also strengthen its long-term connection with clients by offering them an unusual and deeply memorable experience that they could not find anywhere else.

3. Sustainability

SPA VILNIUS conducts its activities guided by sustainability principles, both aiming to conserve resources, protect and respect the natural environment, and educate clients about the importance of sustainability, involving them in more conscious consumption choices.

Forest Preservation and Nature Protection:
Eco-friendly Activities: Participants in “Forest Therapy” are introduced to SPA VILNIUS’ efforts to preserve the forest and biodiversity.
Growing and Caring for Local Plants: During forest therapy, guests are invited to learn how their activities can contribute to sustainability and nature conservation.
Peace Without Noise and Pollution: Since the SPA uses renewable energy sources, this means there is less noise, pollution, and other negative impacts that could disrupt the natural microclimate of the forest and the effectiveness of the therapy. This allows clients to experience pure and undisturbed forest tranquility.
Products Used from Local Forest Resources: These not only enhance the effectiveness of the therapy but also promote ecological awareness or learn how to take care of the forest and its resources, thus strengthening their connection with nature.

Benefits for SPA VILNIUS and Clients:
Increased ecological awareness: Clients will not only enjoy nature but also understand the impact of their actions on the environment, which may inspire them to become more conscious consumers.
Unique competitive advantage: SPA VILNIUS can be known as a leader in ecology and sustainability in the wellness sector, attracting environmentally conscious clients.
Holistic approach to health: Clients receive not only physical but also moral satisfaction, knowing that their wellness experience is environmentally friendly.

3. Impact and benefits

Body scrub with Dry Mineral Water® Sophia, shea butter oil and oat extract contains about 70 trace elements and minerals, including magnesium, potassium, calcium, zinc, iron, and iodine salts, which have a positive effect on our well-being. Magnesium promotes the growth and division of epidermal cells as well as improves the regeneration and moisture of the protective layer of the skin. During scrubbing, the skin is softened, excess oil is dissolved and eliminated, and the natural balance of sebum is restored. This treatment is an effective remedy against skin dryness. Made with organic and/or natural ingredients.
Dry Mineral Water® Sophia bath enriched with myrrh and black spruce essential oils. It is an effective remedy against skin aging and dryness. The ingredients in the bath restore moisture, nourish, and clean and soften the skin. Myrrh essential oil is one of the most powerful essential oils. It acts as an antiseptic, stops inflammation and accelerates healing, and it soothes and softens cracked and scaly skin. Black spruce essential oil has a refreshing forest scent with woody and balsamic notes. It has a calming and relaxing effect. This essential oil reduces mild pain and inflammation. After the bath, the skin remains moisturized. The mineral coating felt on its surface continues to work for several hours, so it is not recommended to wash it off after the bath.
Body wrap with Dry Mineral Water® Sophia and Juniper extract sapropel mud. This colloidal mud, rich in mineral and organic substances of biogenic origin, natural silver, selenium, and vitamins and enriched with Sophia dry mineral water and juniper extract, has a special effect. The abundant amount of B complex vitamins helps keep the skin smooth and healthy, increases muscle tone, strengthens the functions of the immune and nervous systems, and promotes cell growth and division. It is also rich in bromine, iodine, phosphorus, and magnesium, which have a calming effect on the nervous system and restore the working capacity of the body after heavy emotional and physical stress. During the treatment, these ingredients affect, in addition to the skin, tissues and organs. It improves blood circulation, protects the skin from dryness and aging, and nourishes it.
Flow therapy is a unique therapy that has no analogue in the entire Baltic region, restoring inner harmony, health, beauty and youth. This is because the purest and cleanest Sophia spring water extracted from a 715-meter-deep well is used for this treatment. This water contains over 70 different mineral elements, which in their ionized form are absorbed directly at the cellular level. In 20 minutes in a state of weightlessness, the skin, muscles, joints and the whole body absorb many microelements that would never be obtained in any other form.

4. Sustainability

Mineral salts are extracted from the water using a technique dating back to 1881. The natural mineral brine is heated for two weeks until salt crystals form on the surface of the brine, which is then used to produce Dry Mineral Water®. Solar panels are used to heat the water and the evaporated water is collected and condensed to produce other products. This way, water resources are not wasted and both salts and water are conserved. All packaging is certified by the Normpack Association, which ensures that our packaging meet all the highest European requirements.

2. Originality

The effectiveness of the cardiovascular balneary treatment provided in its treatment centre is due to the natural cure factors, the resort being placed directly on the source, which ensures its UNIQUENESS with natural cure factors: mineral water, mofette, relaxing-sedative bioclimate.
The programme is impossible to replicate since the position of the Balneary Center is exactly on the source of mofettic gas and mineral waters, also the concentration and chemical composition of the mineral water (ferruginous, bicarbonated, chlorinated, sodium, carbonated, hypotonic mineral waters with a total mineralization of 1745.90 mg/l and very rich in free carbon dioxide 2244 mg/l) and of the moffeta is unique all over the world (CO2 – 80.70%, O2 – 2.9%, N – 16.40%, Rn – 247 Bq/m3, Ra A – 115.30 Bq/m3, Ra B – 84.5 Bq/m3, Ra C – 18.10 Bq/m3, concentration of negative ions 1.84104 ions/ml, concentration of positive ions 2.02103) from the study and other information regarding other mofettas published to the date is the perfect combination known.
In our Innovative Health Programme were introduced a number of 18 patients in 2020, 52 patients in 2021, 76 patients in 2022 and at the end of 2023 the objective is 104 patients, until the date we have 92 patients, the patients were observed and monitored during the stay and 6 months after leaving. We used all therapeutic methods that we have in our Balneary Centre adapted to each patient depending on the anatomy-clinical stage, the evolutionary stage of the disease and the biological potential of the person. Every patient has a folder and it is introduced in our Programme and monitored monthly and 6 months after leaving the resort. The therapeutic indications are: mofetta, bath with mineral water, kinesiotherapy, physiotherapy and enjoying bioclimate.
Programme goals:
 Proving the efficiency of the natural therapeutic factors, namely carbonated mineral waters, moffetes, field cures, and the bioclimate, together with kinesiotherapy, in patients with obliterative chronic arteriopathy;
 Monitoring the effect duration in the case of the treatment applied— when, after the completion of the treatment, can we note the improvement of symptoms – pain, walking speed, or walking distance?
 If the medical treatment dosage – namely peripheral vasodilators, antihypertensive medication, analgesics – can be reduced or not;
 Encouraging walking, reducing cardiovascular risk, and increasing the quality of the patients’ life;
 Continuing medical recovery in the balneotherapy resorts with a cardiovascular profile through partnerships with cardiovascular medical and surgical facilities.

3. Impact and benefits

The equipment of the Balneary Center has some uniqueness features: the mofetta has a gas monitoring system for avoiding intoxication or other accidents, the carbonated baths have an automatized system for water monitoring and evacuation system, both systems are adapted to our center and created special for the center.
Regarding the benefits for the patients in the study were noted significant improvements in the pain relief, walking speed and walking distance, the reduction or even the interruption of drug treatment (namely peripheral vasodilators, antihypertensive medication, analgesics|), reduction of cardiovascular risk and increasing the quality of the patients’ life.
In the study our medical team observed a positive evolution of the program’s effects, over 60% of the patients confirmed that they reduce the dose of drugs treatment, also 10% of the patients have given up certain drug treatments (anti-inflammatory, vasodilator, hypertensive), increasing the distance and the walking parameter in the case of patients with circulatory insufficiency, increasing the quality of life of the patients that are in the study and also the study was extended to other categories of diseases generating others in this field by our medical team regarding the treatment of dermatological and metabolic diseases – including diabetes and chronic smoking – the reduction of inflammatory processes, balancing blood pressure and increasing immunity.
Turism Covasna is the only company in the Balneo area that has implemented a research program and have participated with the medical team to numerous events like Congresses, Medical Forums (national and international), conferences and even hosting a large number of evets, promoting the benefit of the natural resources all over the world. With this study and others our medical team have gain awards at the mentioned events above.

4. Sustainability

In our Balneary Center the moffetic gas comes directly from underneath, it is not accumulated but used directly, with no consumption of energy. Regarding the treatment with mineral water, the medical procedure is carried out in individual bathtubs, the mineral water drilling is within the courtyard of our Balneary Treatment Center and uses the amount recommended at crenotherapy or individual bathtubs. A part of the energy needed for water heating is provided by the system of photovoltaic panels located on the roof of the Balneary Center (were installed in 2023).

A part of the energy needed for water heating is provided by the system of photovoltaic panels located on the roof of the Balneary Center (were installed in 2023).

C5: Slovenské Liečebné Kúpele Piešťany ( Ensana group) https://europeanspas.eu/eia-projects/slovenske-liecebne-kupele-piestany-ensana-group/ Mon, 25 Sep 2023 09:57:38 +0000 https://europeanspas.eu/?post_type=eia-projects&p=3589 By creating the new Parkinson Programme Ensana Health Spa Piešťany (Ensana Group member) has responded to the requirements of a specific patient group and joined efforts with renowned scientific institutions and patient association creating a Programme improving the outcomes of spa treatment and quality of life. The outcome of the new and unique Parkinson programme at the Ensana Health Spa Piešťany indicates a trend towards a positive effect of the therapy on wellbeing (physical, psychological, and social) of PD patients. We have already presented our Parkinson’s Programme at the 6th World Parkinson Congress 2023 which was held in Barcelona between 4-7th July 2023 where 3.200+ delegates from all-over the world (from all areas of care) were registered in the form of a poster. We have created awareness about the existence of such a Programme in our spa among the medical/scientific and patient care organizations as well as patient associations and established the initial networking. We expect collaboration with both the domestic and international institutions to attract PD patient to participate on our Programme while according to our knowledge this kind of dedicated Parkinson Programme does not exist anywhere in Europe.

1. Short Description of your Health Spa Programme

Hydrogen sulfide (essence of our natural healing resources) is known to have a positive effect on muscle and peripheral nerve physiology used for more than a century in Ensana Health Spa Piešťany. Until present, only isolated cases of patients with Parkinson’s disease (PD) have been admitted for rehabilitation undergoing a therapy common to all neurological patients. The treatment effect was not at the expected level. In 2022, in cooperation with renown scientific institutions and the Slovak Parkinson Society a development of a new rehabilitation programme adapted to the specific needs of PD patients was initiated by us. Programme consists of a physio-therapeutic module, a sensory module and a nutritional module. Combination of all three modules leads to rehabilitation and invigoration of PD patients and provides necessary knowledge base to introduce beneficial routine changes in home settings. Within Q1 2023, 5 PD patient groups (30 participants) underwent a pilot, 7-day version of this new and unique rehabilitation programme in Slovak Health Spa Piešťany. Reporting of the effect of this programme on PD patients is based on pre- and post-rehabilitation medical assessments and questionnaire-based data collection. The outcome of the new and unique Parkinson programme at the Ensana Health Spa Piešťany indicates a trend towards a positive effect of the therapy on wellbeing (physical, psychological, and social) of PD patients. The maximum effect of the complex spa therapy is usually achieved after 2 to 3 weeks of therapy. Therefore, in the (near) future we expect to achieve even more convincing data with PD patients undertaking a 3-week long therapeutic programme.

2. Originality

Our unique Parkinson’s programme a completely newly developed programme. Until present, only isolated cases of patients with Parkinson’s disease (PD) have been admitted for rehabilitation to our Ensana Health Spa Piešťany, where we have offered therapy common to all neurological patients, which treatment effect was not at the expected level. In 2022, in cooperation with the University Hospital in Martin, Comenius University in Bratislava, Jessenius Faculty of Medicine in Martin, Biomedical Center Martin, and the Slovak Parkinson Society (patient association) we have initiated the development of a special rehabilitation programme adapted to the specific needs of Parkinson‘s patients. Within Q1 of 2023, 5 patient groups (30 participants) underwent a pilot, 7-day version of this new and unique rehabilitation programme in Slovak Health Spa Piestany. Reporting of the effect of the rehabilitation programme on PD patients is based on scientifically recognized world renowned pre- and post-rehabilitation medical/neurological assessments by the visiting doctor and questionnaire-based data collection (from the visiting doctor; therapist and the participating PD patients). Programme participants have also filled out the Parkinson‘s Disease Questionnaire (PDQ39). The outcome of the pilot (1 week) new and unique Parkinson programme at the Ensana Health Spa Piešťany indicates a trend towards a positive effect of the therapy on wellbeing (physical, psychological, and social) of PD patients. The maximum effect of the complex spa therapy is usually achieved after 2 to 3 weeks of therapy. Therefore, in the (near) future we expect to achieve even more convincing data with PD patients undertaking a 3-week long therapeutic programme. The physio-therapeutic module includes both treatments based on our natural healing resources [mineral bath/mirror pool (37 °C)] and unique concepts of personalized physiotherapy and group rehabilitation.

3. Impact and benefits

Our work also continues on the scientific field, we have already entered all data into the international scientific registers to prove our originality a primacy and we are working on a scientific paper to be published in progessional medical journals.

4. Sustainability

At Ensana Health Spa Piešťany we are in general striving for sustainability. Currently we are working several projects to introduce renewable energies and green solutions into our daily operations. However, within the nominated Programme we can’t exactly present and provide any specific examples of direct impact within the questioned sustainability.

C5: Royal Spa, a.s. https://europeanspas.eu/eia-projects/royal-spa-a-s/ Mon, 25 Sep 2023 08:46:15 +0000 https://europeanspas.eu/?post_type=eia-projects&p=3576 Covid-19 has caused lots of damage to European population, leaving millions with lasting effects. The most common problems are respiratory diseases, tiredness, disorders of nervous system, oedema, autoimmune diseases and many other often inexplicable health problems. Already at the time of the first wave of the pandemic, treatment using a rehabilitation high-intensity laser was employed to reduce the symptoms of inflammation. The treatment was successful and saved many lives. Later, in cooperation with research experts, it began to be tested on patients with post-covid syndrome. The initial results were extremely positive, so this treatment quickly moved into hospitals, clinics and outpatients care to help as many patients as possible. At Miramare Sanatorium, in cooperation with the Faculty of Biomedical Engineering, the first spa treatment program using MLS laser therapy was put together, supported by a holistic approach of traditional Medical Spa care and natural healing sources. This combination achieves great results, which have been presented at several conferences and will be presented again this year at ESPA 2023.

1. Short Description of your Health Spa Programme

The treatment programme begins with an initial comprehensive kinesiological examination and measurement of initial spirometry values. Then the patient undergoes 5 applications of MLS laser therapy, followed by inhalation treatment of the local Vincentka spring, respiratory physiotherapy, correction of movement stereotypes, and elimination of muscle imbalances using physiotherapy methods, hydrotherapy, and other spa procedures. Over time, in order to increase the capacity and intensity of respiratory physiotherapy, we have developed a virtual reality respiratory physiotherapy module for smaller groups of patients in cooperation with VR Medical. This proved to be a strong motivator for a large number of patients, increasing their efforts in therapy. The length of treatment application for clients with post-covid syndrome is around 12 minutes per affected lung and it is necessary to continue the application for five consecutive days to initiate the pro-regenerative effect. The treatment with high-power laser therapy is followed by respiratory physiotherapy techniques and manual techniques for postural correction. The laser application helps to transform the fibrotic tissue in the lung back into elastic functional tissue and, if supported by respiratory physiotherapy, the lung obstructions are removed and lung capacity is restored. The treatment This treatment significantly reduces the patient’s drug consumption, as patients do not need to take, for example, corticoids or similar pharmaceuticals.

2. Originality

The Sanatorium Miramare Luhačovice was the first Medical Spa rehabilitation facility in the Czech Republic to offer an innovative treatment programme for post-covid syndrome using MLS laser therapy. Today, we offer this treatment at all Medical Spa facilities of Royal Spa and thus help our clients with many post-covid disorders.
After we published experience and results of post-covid programme with MLS laser therapy, some other Spas bought MLS laser device, but there is no other facility using the same holistic treatment as in Sanatorium Miramare.

3. Impact and benefits

Luhačovice is suitable for patients with lung diseases due to its focus and natural healing source, but in recent years this group of patients has not been so large. This innovation has helped to change this trend and return this large group of patients to their destination. In addition, we have been able to present our results at professional conferences, which has contributed to spreading our company’s reputation. We have also received great references from our clients, which is the greatest reward.

4. Sustainability

The Health Spa programme does not pollute the environment and consists of regular rehabilitation procedures. Our healthcare facility uses heat recovery for heating by pumping from boreholes. In the historic centre of the town, we are not allowed to use solar panel technology on the roofs of buildings, but in other buildings outside Luhačovice we use this technology to generate electricity. Resource efficiency is one of the key points of our long-term vision.
