Loora Salurand: “Digital healthtech”

Loora Salurand is a health technology professional with a background in pharmacy and academic expertise in developing digital health technologies. She has contributed to Estonia’s digital health advancements, including the launch of the first national e-pharmacy and work at the Estonian Health Insurance Fund. At Teadus ja ärilinnak Tehnopol, she leads EU-wide medtech innovation and export projects, with a focus on chronic diseases such as COPD.

At the ESPA Congress, Loora Salurand and Jana Holmar will jointly present on the topic: “Digital HealthTech.”

Monika Kumm: “Digital wellbeing at work”

Monika Kumm holds a PhD from Tallinn University of Technology and is currently a lecturer in research basics at Pärnu College, University of Tartu. Her research focuses on using natural materials for health promotion, with extensive studies on the chemical composition of Estonia’s curative mud and balneological peat. She has published 60 articles and two edited collections. From 2012 to 2023, she worked as a mud products development laboratory expert at the Centre of Excellence in Health Promotion and Rehabilitation, where she researched the applications of curative mud and peat in cosmetics and health products.

At the ESPA Congress, she will give a lecture: “Digital wellbeing at work”.

Varje-Riin Tuulik: “Clinical studies on Balneology in Tallinn University Haapsalu College”

Varje-Riin Tuulik is Head of the Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine Center at West-Tallinn Central Hospital and serves as Chair of the Board of the Estonian Society of PRM Doctors. Her academic work at Tallinn University’s Haapsalu College focuses on balneology and musculoskeletal overuse syndromes, contributing to clinical studies that bridge scientific research and rehabilitation practice.

Maria Martšenko: “Converting Local Resources into Innovative Cosmetic and Health Products through Science”

Maria Martšenko is a Senior Specialist in Product Innovation at the School of Natural Sciences and Health, Tallinn University, and Coordinator of Business Collaboration (Natural Sciences and Health) at EXU. She is actively involved in knowledge transfer projects between the university and the private sector, facilitating cooperation in natural sciences with a particular focus on valorising natural resources for the creation of innovative cosmetic and health products.

Jaanus Terasmaa: „Quality and composition of Estonia’s curative mud deposits”

Jaanus Terasmaa is Professor of ecohydrology at Tallinn University, School of Natural Science and Health, Institute of Ecology. Originally focused on paleolimnology and sedimentology, his work now encompasses ecohydrology, water management, and ecosystem services, with a focus on climate change, environmental education, citizen science practices, and digital learning tools.
He is also cooperating with the Haapsalu College and the Centre of Excellence in Health Promotion and Rehabilitation.
